We just returned from the Saturday evening session of our stake conference. Elder Navarette of the quorum of the seventy was one of the visiting authorities. He shared some experiences and insight into how could share the gospel. He showed a couple of videos (I have posted one of them below).
This video makes reference to the power of our words. We need open our mouths and share the gospel. Elder Cannon, the Boise mission president, suggested 2 ways to get started in sharing the gospel: 1st, we need to sincerely pray for missionary experiences; 2nd, we need to take advantage of natural opportunities to share the gospel. For example, we should tell others about our church experience when they ask us on Monday morning how our weekend was. We often skip over these "natural" opportunities. One of the other speakers encouraged us to use the atonement daily to help us oversee the sins and shortcomings of others and to avoid judgement of others so that we can bless their lives. I thought this was a great application of the atonement that I often overlook.
Elder Navararette also spoke of how sharing the gospel really starts in our own home. Another speakers mentioned that we begin filling our lamps of oil drop by drop (reference made to the parable of the 10 virgins). These drops include things like family prayer, fasting, service, tithing, gratitude, partaking of the sacrament, treating spouse and children with love, etc.
